Privacy Policy
Poof is an app that helps you quit nicotine with a small cloud friend. We built it so that your quit stays yours.
The short version
- Your data stays on your phone. There’s no account and no sign-up, and we don’t keep your check-ins, cravings or notes on a server.
- We never sell your data and we never share it with advertisers.
- We count a few anonymous things, such as how many people finish onboarding, so we can make Poof better. None of it identifies you.
- Delete the app and your data goes with it.
What stays on your phone
Everything you enter into Poof is stored only on your device:
- your quit plan: quit date, what you use, how much, the price and your reasons;
- your cravings, check-ins, mood, slips and the notes you write;
- your Poof’s name and progress, and your Hill;
- any photo you add as a reminder. It stays in the app on your phone and isn’t uploaded.
- from version 1.1, what Poof learns about your patterns and the words it writes about them. Poof writes them on your iPhone with Apple Intelligence, on the device; nothing is sent to us.
Poof’s widgets read a small summary of this from a shared space on your phone that only Poof can open. Notifications are scheduled on your phone; we don’t send them from a server.
If you use your iPhone’s backup (iCloud or your computer), Apple may include Poof’s data in that backup. That’s handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy, and we can’t read it.
What leaves your phone
Purchases (Apple and RevenueCat).
- If you buy Poof Plus, Apple processes the payment. We never see your card or your Apple ID.
- We use RevenueCat to confirm which purchases you own. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app ID and your purchase receipts. It does not receive your quit data.

Anonymous usage counts (TelemetryDeck).
- We count events such as “onboarding finished”, “craving route opened” or “paywall shown”, tagged with the app version and a coarse device type.
- TelemetryDeck is built for privacy. It doesn’t collect your name, your email or your IP address, and each device’s ID is hashed so we can’t trace it back to you.
- We never send the content of what you write or log.

When you choose to share. A milestone share card only leaves your phone if you tap Share and pick where it goes.
When you email us. If you write to [email protected], we get your email address and whatever you tell us. We use it only to reply.
On this website
quitwithpoof.com is separate from the app, and it collects very little:
- The waitlist. If you join it, we store the email address you type, and nothing else. We use it only to tell you when Poof is ready. It’s kept in a Cloudflare database. To be removed, email [email protected] and we’ll delete it.
- Anonymous visit counts. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without tracking you from site to site. It sees things like the page, the referring site, the browser and the country, and it doesn’t store your IP address. Cloudflare’s privacy policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/
What we don’t do
- We don’t use ads or ad trackers, and we don’t use your data for advertising.
- We don’t collect your location in this version.
- We don’t use your data for any kind of profiling or automated decision.
- We don’t sell or rent data to anyone.
Your choices
- See your data: it’s all in the app.
- Export it: Settings → Export my data (Poof Plus).
- Leave the waitlist: email [email protected] and we’ll delete your address.
- Delete it: delete the app. Nothing from the app is stored with us, so there’s nothing left behind to delete.
- Notifications: turn them off at any time in Settings or in iOS Settings.
- Ask us anything at [email protected]. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, Thailand’s PDPA or the CCPA), you have rights to access, correct and delete personal data. Because we hold almost none, most requests are answered by the fact that we don’t have the data.
Children
Poof is rated 17+ and is meant for adults who use nicotine. We don’t knowingly collect data from children.
Health information
The information you log (cravings, slips, mood) is sensitive, which is why it stays on your phone. Poof is not a medical service, and we’re not a healthcare provider.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top and, for meaningful changes, tell you in the app.
